2nd year students (Group C2) successfully held a French week at Vatel Restaurant from 21-25 May 2018. The French week event was an opportunity for2nd year students to put into practice the knowledge they have learned during their time spent at Vatel in practical training.
This group created their own special menu from the South Eastern region of France including Salade Niçoise, Bouillabaisse and Tarte au Citron Meringuee.
Decoration was an important highlight of the event and needed to match the theme, whilst concerning any costs involved. Students also promoted the French week through Facebook, posters and also arranged prizes with various sponsors in order to sell as many tickets as possible.
Apart from the preparation of the event, they also had to write a report including their experiences, challenges and achievements from working with all the departments involved.
All in all, this special event provided students with many valuable lessons. They learned how to work as a team successfully and apply their theoretical knowledge to hands-on professional practice.
