From China to Italy, Italy to Switzerland, Tiziana Hu is a great example of a student who is “open to the world.”
During the three years she spent at Vatel Switzerland, Tiziana Hu’s school career was exceptional. The results below bear witness to an impeccable track record:
- She had the highest grades in her class during the three years she spent at Vatel,
- She was the graduation ceremony Valedictorian, in June, 2015,
- She was the best F&B student in the International MIB3 class, in June, 2015,
- She had the best Capstone Project, creating a company, in June, 2015.
“Choosing Hotel Management came really naturally for me: I love working with people. I also really appreciate it when we work in teams. This is a key point that I’m passionate about.
I grew up in an international context: I was born in Italy from Chinese parents and really quickly I found that I loved discovering different cultures and languages. When I was in high school, I studied English, German, Spanish, as well as Chinese and Italian, my native languages.
When I helped my parents out in their brasserie, I also had the opportunity of learning some of the tricks of the hospitality trade, especially when working in different departments such as restaurant services, sales, communication, etc. There was no doubt in my mind whatsoever: the hospitality industry was my vocation.
I still remember the first time I toured Vatel Switzerland, on December 7, 2012. I was really impressed by the professional conduct and the warm welcome that the students gave us.
Right away I was enthusiastic about the Vatel 4* Hotel located right on the Campus, something unique in Switzerland, which allows students to have a true professional experience, working with real customers.
The country also played a part in my choice: Switzerland, which is well-known for its beautiful landscapes, its high quality of life, and above all, the quality of education in the tourism and hotel management sectors.
After three years of intensive training at Vatel Switzerland, with theoretical courses and practical application courses, little by little we became skilled young professionals, ready to hold a job.
My first internship, a six-month one, in F&B at the Relais du Mont d’Orge in Sion, Switzerland, helped me consolidate my basic skill sets.
And my professional project was honed during my last internship at the International school St Georges in Montreux, in the Marketing and Admissions department. I was in charge of the Asian market, and my main missions were:
- Organizing a recruitment strategy in Asia,
- Defining and creating marketing tools,
- Translating Chinese documents into English.
After this six-month mission, Management created the Marketing and Admissions Coordinator position for the Asian market, where I still work today.
Since then, travelling between Switzerland and Asia, I’ve been promoting our school. In this job, I find the reasons why I chose a hotel management degree: travelling, meeting others and multiple skills. When I go to work in the morning, I’m always sure that I’ll be having an exciting and different day.
I am very ambitous: this is why I do everything possible to meet my goals. My ideal job: managing a company.”
