Success was only a matter of timing for 16” Alumna, Talia Azema. Since her early childhood, she was in awe of her parents’ indelible sense of fellowship, commitment and tolerance arising from their hospitality tenured positions. After completion of her studies at Lycée Labourdonnais, it then only made sense to her that she too would follow in the footsteps of her elders.
As someone raised in a close-knit family though, she wished for a hospitality and tourism management school that would provide her with a world-class education level, whilst meeting her geographical expectations/boundaries. But she knew that somehow travelling to discover herself, to live life on her own terms, may be through a worthwhile internship programme would only prove for the better. That is how Vatel Business School Mauritius came in, fitting the bill perfectly.
Talia reveals that Vatel Business School Mauritius radically changed her life…She had the opportunity of a lifetime to work for several big-name employers such as Dinarobin Hotel Golf & Spa; Michel Guérard, Eugénie-les-Bains, Relais & Château (France); Ritz Paris (France), Le Paris Rouge Restaurant (China) amongst others. She further described how working in another country whilst learning other cultures, traditions and way of life other than that she was used to, was highly beneficial to her whole being. She admits she had to prepare herself for some exponential mental/physical alterations such as overcoming dependency, communication barriers, intercultural differences and more, leading to an important growth phase in her life.
She particularly credits her instructors at Vatel Business School Mauritius, her parents and grandparents for all her professional achievements so far and even the turning point from her cross departmental exposure in food and beverages to her actual position as Sustainable & Quality Officer for Reynaud Les Halles.
When asked upon her professional endeavours in a few years’ times, she says that she is highly looking forward to an important chapter in her professional and personal life unfolding where she will be able to use her time optimally.
Till then, she enjoys life to the fullest, seizing every opportunity along the way to make her family and her proud and she says to current and future cohorts of students to never stop dreaming to reach for the stars.
